Specification
The Wearing Disk, also often called a wear plate or protector disk, is a key component installed in the fluid end of the mud pump. Its primary function is to act as a sacrificial barrier between the valve seat and the valve box body. During operation, the repeated impacting of valves and the erosive nature of the drilling fluid cause significant wear on this surface. The wearing disk is designed to absorb this wear, protecting the much more expensive and complex valve box assembly from damage. | |||||||||
When worn, it is far more economical and simpler to replace this disk than to repair or replace the entire valve box. Regular inspection and replacement of the wearing disk are crucial maintenance practices that extend the lifespan of the fluid end, maintain pump efficiency by ensuring proper valve seating, and prevent catastrophic failure of the valve box. | |||||||||
